One of the most important services that surveyors perform are topographic surveys. These surveys put surveyors on the ground locating the features of the land to be accurately represented on map. This function is important for many reasons not limited to:
Provides accurate locations of an area so new construction doesn’t disturb existing features (or will know what features will need to be disturbed).
Gathers information to assist with boundary disputes locating driveways, fencelines, buildings, etc..
Provides verification that what has been newly built is actually where it needs to be built at.
